Commencing with a motorcade around the UPLB campus and Los Baños community, the Cooperative headed by its officers and management staff commemorated its 50th Founding Anniversary last May 3, 2011. After the parade, a simple thanksgiving service led by Mrs. Iluminada V. Gomez, BOD Chair, was held at the N.B. Tablante Hall, Sacay Grand Villas, College, Laguna. To celebrate its 50th year as the leading coop in Laguna and the 2nd largest coop in Region IV, the UPLBCDC has lined many projects, such as medical/dental missions, tree-planting activities, among others for the whole year. Looking back to its humble beginnings, it was on May 3, 1961 when the UP Los Baños Credit and Development Cooperative (UPLBCDC), headed by Dr. Nathaniel B. Tablante, Sr. started its operations as the UP College of Agriculture Credit and Cooperative Union, Inc. With an initial membership of 173, the number of members has grown to 6,870 regular and 2,131 associate members (as of June, 2011). Through the years, the Coop has evolved from an UPLB-based institutional cooperative into a stable community-based and multipurpose coop.
